Kids Fitness Classes

The fitness classes that we provide at our facility is in part of a wonderful program known as Motion EvolutionCreated by leaders in the children's fitness industry, Motion Evolution includes physical, mental, and nutritional components to create a well rounded approach to children's fitness. Motion Evolution integrates physical literacy, joy of movement, brain-body research, and sound nutritional habits into a complete progressive curriculum for attaining fitness success at any level. It is designed for ages 5 and older.  Just as we teach children the A-B-C's as the building blocks for reading, Motion Evolution teaches the foundations of movement (tossing, jumping, kicking, inversions, balance, etc.), giving children a greater fitness level and increased confidence.

Motion Evolution is a comprehensive youth fitness program unlike any other, and and Technique Kids' Activity Center is the only youth center in Sacramento licensed to offer it! By positively influencing children's wellness and fitness and integrating exercise into a healthy life concept, Motion Evolution counteracts the forces encouraging obesity. 

Motion Evolution Key Features

 Based on the premise that children (and adults) are made to move, Motion Evolution integrates physical literacy, nutrition education, brain-body science, and play, making the program a complete wellness package. The key features of the program are:

  • Physical Literacy: Children learn the ABC's of the alphabet system, the 123's of the numeric system, and often the notes of a musical system. Motion Evolution teaches the elements of the physical development system to enhance learning capabilities in all areas of life. Using elements such as eye/hand and eye/foot coordination, along with jumping, agility, motor skills, balance, inversions, weight transfers, rolling and twisting, the Motion Evolution program provides a well-rounded platform for life.
  • Mind Body Connections: The Motion Evolution program is based on scientific brain development principles. Exercise really activates the frontal cortex area of the brain. So what you see, and what you get, are people who are sharper. They're more attentive, they're less impulsive, and they're less fidgety. They can sustain their attention longer, and it promotes their ability to sort through information and take it in.
  • Personal Best: Based on only the personal best of each child (as opposed to the competition model more commonly found in traditional institutions and programs), the Motion Evolution program encourages healthy mental and emotional approaches to measuring true progress in all areas of life.
  • Nutritional Education: Nutritional Education must be integrated into a wellness and fitness program to be effective. The Motion Evolution program gently and playfully informs children about what, why, when and how to eat. This is essentially the nutritional literacy system that must accompany a physical literacy program.
  • Movement through Play and Teamwork: FUN is the mode in which children prefer to learn new things. Keeping this in mind, the Motion Evolution program utilizes games that develop a wide array of qualities in children. These include spatial awareness, memory, social skills, self control, leadership skills, field/ground discrimination, listening, and many others.
  • Wellness Motivation: The Motion Evolution program creates a motivating physical activity environment for children. Consequently, it delivers a higher level of perceived competence and self esteem in each child.

Motion Evolution

Class Time: Tuesdays or Thursdays  

Ages 5 -12      3:30pm - 4:10pm    

Ages 13 - 99   4:15pm - 4:55pm   

The idea of Foundations Motion is to casually introduce children to physical activity.
We'll be developing the foundations of movement through games and play, and with nutrition education, brain-body connections, and physical literacy mixed in, the kids will receive a well-rounded health and wellness experience!
What exactly will the kids be receiving in class? We will blend core stabilization, balance, cardio, motor skills, flexibility, and strength-building into each and every class, but let's just call it fun games, music, and activities. They won't even realize that they're exercising every part of their body!!

  • No physical requirements or equipment necessary - just wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes.
  • Classes will be held in on one of our carpeted foam spring floors).
